While we don't have a date for the founding of Wayland, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Wayland has a population of 1,774 people<3> (see below for details).

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Wayland had an population of 1,774 people. This is a decrease of 4.88% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 6.29% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Wayland had a population of 1,865 people. This makes Wayland the county's 19th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,865 people, the population of Wayland decreased 1.48% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 1,893 people).
