Time Zone: Onondaga County lies in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time.
The community of Syracuse is the Seat for Onondaga County.
Onondaga County was founded in 1792 and was created by taking area from Herkimer County.
From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Onondaga had a population of 460,870 people. This is a decrease of 1.32% since the last Census (which gave a population of 467,026 people in 2010).
At the time of the 2010 Census, Onondaga represented 2.41% of the total population of New York.
