While we don't have a date for the founding of Malone, you might consider that their post office opened in 1884.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Malone is 5,850 feet [1,783 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Malone is about 1¼ mile [or ~1¾ km] above sea level.

We originally found mention of Malone in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Malone was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Malone post office opened in 1884. The Malone post office closed in 1888.
