While we don't have a date for the founding of Hatch, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1887.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Hatch has a population of 1,668 people<3> (see below for details).

The community of Hatch is 4,140 feet [1,262 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Hatch is about ¾ mile [or ~1¼ km] above sea level.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Hatch had an population of 1,668 people. This is an increase of 1.21% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 0.3% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Hatch had a population of 1,648 people. This makes Hatch the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of Hatch represents 0.08% of the total population of New Mexico (which has 2,059,179 people), making it the state's 52nd most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Hatch was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Hatch post office opened in 1887.

We also found Hatch in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
