Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Alamogordo had an population of 31,962 people. This is an increase of 5.13% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 10.17% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Alamogordo had a population of 30,403 people (or 47.66% of the total population of Otero County). This makes Alamogordo the county's most populous community.

The population of Alamogordo represents 1.48% of the population of New Mexico (which has 2,059,179 people), making it the state's 9th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 30,403 people, the population of Alamogordo decreased 14.56% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 35,582 people).
