At the time of the 2010 Census, Bellwood had a population of 435 people (which is 5.19% of the total population of Butler County). This makes Bellwood the county's 2nd most populous community.

We originally found mention of Bellwood in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Bellwood was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Bellwood post office opened in 1880.

We also found Bellwood in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
