With a 2010 count of 40 people, the population of Voltaire decreased 21.57% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 51 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Voltaire was on a map titled Map of North Dakota (from Rand McNally, 1897).

We also found Voltaire in the book titled .<6> X3X - From that list, the Voltaire post office opened in 1901.
