At the time of the 2010 Census, Lexington had a population of 18,931 people (or 11.63% of the total population of Davidson County). This makes Lexington the county's 3rd most populous community.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lexington was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Lexington post office opened in 1800.

We also found Lexington in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
