Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Cary had an population of 170,568 people. This is an increase of 26.13% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 80.43% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Cary had a population of 135,234 people (which is 212.95% of the total population of Chatham County). This makes Cary the county's most populous community.

The population of Cary represents 1.42% of the total population of North Carolina (which has 9,535,483 people), making it the state's 7th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 135,234 people, the population of Cary increased 43.05% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 94,536 people).
