Sanders County was founded in 1906 and was created by taking area from Missoula County. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Sanders had a population of 12,113 people. This is an increase of 6.3% since the last Census (which gave a population of 11,395 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Sanders represented 1.15% of the total population of Montana.
