Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Lexington had an population of 1,450 people. This is a decrease of 16.23% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 28.4% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Lexington had a population of 1,731 people (or 9.02% of the total population of Holmes County). This makes Lexington the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Lexington represents 0.06% of the population of Mississippi (which has 2,967,297 people), making it the state's 121st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,731 people, the population of Lexington decreased 14.52% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 2,025 people).
