So far, we found very little information about Salt Creek. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

While we don't have the exact location of Salt Creek , we believe that it would have been located within present day Chariton County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Salt Creek, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1866.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Salt Creek was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Salt Creek post office opened in 1866.

We also found Salt Creek in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
