Welcome to Gunter ...

So far, we found very little information about Gunter. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Gunter to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Gunter - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Gunter, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Gunter , we believe that it would have been located within present day Camden County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Gunter, you might consider that their post office opened in 1882.

Time Zone: The area where Gunter was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 4 communities that are also named Gunter - they are located in Ontario, Oregon and Texas (2).

Adding Gunter to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Gunter was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Gunter post office opened in 1882.

We also found Gunter in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
