Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Saginaw had an population of 48,129 people. This is a decrease of 6.56% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 22.12% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Saginaw had a population of 51,508 people (or 25.73% of the total population of Saginaw County). This makes Saginaw the county's most populous community.

The population of Saginaw represents 0.52% of the total population of Michigan (which has 9,883,640 people), making it the state's 24th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 51,508 people, the population of Saginaw decreased 16.65% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 61,799 people).
