From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for South Deer Isle was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the South Deer Isle post office opened in 1832.

We also found South Deer Isle in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
