Knott County was founded in 1884. Knott was created by taking area from Perry, Letcher, Floyd and Breathitt Counties. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Knott had a population of 14,806 people. This is a decrease of 9.47% since the last Census (which gave a population of 16,355 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Knott represented 0.38% of the total population of Kentucky.
