Welcome to Star ...

So far, we found very little information about Star. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Star to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Star - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Star, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Star , we believe that it would have been located within present day Stevens County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Star, you might consider that their post office opened in 1912.

If Star still existed, it would have been in the (620) area code.

While we believe that this Star is located in Stevens County, we know of another 2 Kansas communities named Star. Those communities are located in the following counties: Graham and Greenwood County.

Beyond Kansas, there are 29 communities that are also named Star - they are located in Alabama, Alberta, Florida, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Louisiana (3), Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri (2), Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma (2), Ontario, Tennessee, Texas (2), Virginia, West Virginia (2) and Wisconsin.

Adding Star to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Star was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Star post office opened in 1912.
