Time Zone: Stevens County lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time.

The community of Hugoton is the Seat for Stevens County.

Stevens County was founded August 3, 1886 and was created by taking area from Seward County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Stevens had a population of 5,405 people. This is a decrease of 5.57% since the last Census (which gave a population of 5,724 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Stevens represented 0.2% of the total population of Kansas.
