Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Clear Lake had an population of 7,566 people. This is a decrease of 2.71% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 7.29% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Clear Lake had a population of 7,777 people (or 17.61% of the total population of Cerro Gordo County). This makes Clear Lake the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,777 people, the population of Clear Lake decreased 4.71% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 8,161 people).
