So far, we found very little information about Ogeechee. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Ogeechee would have been located within present day Screven County<2>.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Ogeechee, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1834.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Ogeechee is 100 feet [30 m] above sea level.<3>.

Adding Ogeechee to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Ogeechee in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Ogeechee was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Ogeechee post office opened in 1834.

We also found Ogeechee in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).
