At the time of the 2010 Census, Iron City had a population of 310 people. This makes Iron City the county's 2nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 310 people, the population of Iron City decreased 95.99% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 7,727 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Iron City was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Iron City post office opened in 1890.
