At the time of the 2010 Census, Stamford had a population of 122,643 people (or 13.38% of the total population of Fairfield County). This makes Stamford the county's 4th most populous community.

The population of Stamford represents 3.43% of the population of Connecticut (which has 3,574,097 people), making it the state's 8th most populous community.
