How Far From Vicksburg to ...
We spend a lot of time looking through Gazetteers & Almanacs that were published in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Many of the Gazetteers include the distance from a community such as Vicksburg to various places of note, such as the White House.
With a nod to our favorite Gazetteers and using the location of where the historic community of Vicksburg once stood, the straight-line distance beginning in Vicksburg and extending to:
- Salida, which is the Seat of Chaffee County, lies 38 miles [61.2 km]<1> to the south southeast. If you could walk a straight line from Vicksburg to Salida, with an average speed<7> of 2.2 miles [3.5 km] per hour, it would take over two days to make the trip. A horse and buggy averaging 3.2 miles [5.1 km] per hour would take just about two full days.
