So far, we found very little information about Ryan. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Ryan would have been located within present day Inyo County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Ryan, you might consider that their post office opened in 1907.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Ryan is 3,040 feet [927 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Ryan is about ½ mile above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Ryan was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Ryan in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found (so far) for Ryan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Ryan post office opened in 1907. The Ryan post office closed in 1930.
