Nevada County was founded in 1851 and was created by taking area from Yuba County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Nevada had a population of 99,755 people. This is an increase of 0.98% since the last Census (which gave a population of 98,790 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Nevada represented 0.27% of the total population of California.
