The origin (or the toponymy) of Williams: Named for William Sherley Williams (1787-1849), best known as "Old Bill Williams" - trapper, scout and mountain man. He also served with the Mississippi Mounted Rangers during the War of 1812.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Williams had an population of 3,248 people. This is an increase of 7.44% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 14.29% since the 2000 Census).
At the time of the 2010 Census, Williams had a population of 3,023 people. This makes Williams the county's 3rd most populous community.
The population of Williams represents 0.05% of the total population of Arizona (which has 6,392,017 people), making it the state's 73rd most populous community.
With a 2010 count of 3,023 people, the population of Williams increased 6.37% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 2,842 people).
