The Commemorative Quarter for Arizona

Welcome to Haynes ...

So far, we found very little information about Haynes. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Haynes to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Haynes - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Haynes, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Haynes , we believe that it would have been located within present day Yavapai County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Haynes, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1908.

Time Zone: The area where Haynes was located is in the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST) and does not observe daylight saving time

The location where Haynes once stood is in the (928) area code.

Communities Also Named Haynes ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 14 communities that are also named Haynes - they are located in Alabama, Alberta, Arkansas, Florida, Illinois (2), New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio (2) and Tennessee (3).

For more information, see our Tidbits & Trivia Page for Haynes.

Adding Haynes to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Haynes was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Haynes post office opened in 1908.

We also found Haynes on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Arizona and New Mexico (1925).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Haynes, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Arizona's counties, including Yavapai, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
