The community of Mountain View is the Seat for Stone County.

Stone County was founded in 1873. Stone was created by taking area from Izard, Independence, Searcy and Van Buren Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Stone had a population of 12,614 people. This is an increase of 1.78% since the last Census (which gave a population of 12,394 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Stone represented 0.43% of the total population of Arkansas.
