How Far From Cold Springs to ...
We spend a lot of time looking through Gazetteers that were published in the late 1800's and early 1900's. Many of the Gazetteers include the distance from a community such as Cold Springs to various places of note, such as the White House.
With a nod to our favorite Gazetteers and using the location of where the historic community of Cold Springs once stood, the straight-line distance beginning in Cold Springs and extending to:
- Benton, which is the Seat of Saline County, lies 17 miles [27.4 km]<1> to the south southeast. If you could walk a straight line from Cold Springs to Benton, with an average speed<5> of 2.2 miles [3.5 km] per hour, it would take most of a day to make the trip. A horse and buggy averaging 3.2 miles [5.1 km] per hour would take five to six hours.
- Little Rock, which is the State Capital of Arkansas, lies 25 miles [40.2 km] to the east (E). The buggy would take most of a day and walking would take just about two full days.
