The community of Ashville is the Seat for Saint Clair County.

Saint Clair County was founded in 1818 and was created by taking area from Shelby County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Saint Clair had a population of 89,735 people. This is an increase of 7.35% since the last Census (which gave a population of 83,593 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Saint Clair represented 1.75% of the total population of Alabama.

While it makes interesting reading all by itself, it should be of special interest to genealogists and family historians looking for people who were either affected by or directly involved in such tragedies.
