The town of Argo is primarily located in Saint Clair County<1>. A portion of Argo extends into Jefferson County.


The location of Argo has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<2>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Argo, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was in a book dated 1895.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Argo has a population of 4,255 people<3> (see below for details).

Argo is 850 feet [259 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: Argo lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Argo had an population of 4,255 people. This is an increase of 4.52% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 139.04% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Argo had a population of 4,071 people. This makes Argo the county's 5th most populous community.

The population of Argo represents 0.09% of the total population of Alabama (which has 4,779,736 people), making it the state's 120th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 4,071 people, the population of Argo increased 128.71% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 1,780 people).
