The location of Argo has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (the GNIS).<2> While we don't have a date for the founding of Argo, you might get a feel for it by knowing that the earliest mention that we've found (so far) was in a book dated 1895. This is an increase of 4.52% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 139.04% since the 2000 Census). At the time of the 2010 Census, Argo had a population of 4,071 people. This makes Argo the county's 5th most populous community. The population of Argo represents 0.09% of the population of Alabama (which has 4,779,736 people), making it the state's 120th most populous community.
