A Gazetteer for the United States and Canada
Welcome to Afton ...
Although we found mention of Afton during our research, we have little information about it.<1> Given the context of how Afton was mentioned, we believe that it was a community rather than a locale or some type of landmark. We have done a cursory search and if it was a community, we haven't been able to find any evidence that it still exists..
While we are confident that Afton was located in Barbour County, we don't know its actual location within the county.
We've added Afton to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Afton - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Afton, please Contact Us.
Time Zone: The area where we believe that Afton might be (or was) located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time
We believe that Afton would be found within the (334) area code.
