At the time of the 2010 Census, Lawrence had a population of 6,483 people. This makes Lawrence the county's 27th most populous community.

The population of Lawrence represents 0.03% of the total population of New York (which has 19,378,102 people), making it the state's 384th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 6,483 people, the population of Lawrence has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 6,522 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lawrence was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Lawrence post office opened in 1897.
