At the time of the 2010 Census, Garden City had a population of 22,371 people. This makes Garden City the county's 10th most populous community.

The population of Garden City represents 0.12% of the population of New York (which has 19,378,102 people), making it the state's 107th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 22,371 people, the population of Garden City increased 3.23% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 21,672 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Garden City was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Garden City post office opened in 1875.
