The location of Whitewater has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<2>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Whitewater, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1883.

Whitewater is 5,150 feet [1,570 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the elevation of Whitewater is about 1 mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: Whitewater lies in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel west from Whitewater (for example, toward Duncan (AZ)), you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST). In addition, you will be moving from an area that observes daylight saving time to one that does not.

Whitewater is within the boundaries of the (575) area code.

We originally found mention of Whitewater in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Whitewater was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Whitewater post office opened in 1883.

We also found Whitewater in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
