So far, we found very little information about Pinos Altos. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Pinos Altos would have been located within present day Grant County<2>.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Pinos Altos, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1867.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Pinos Altos is 7,010 feet [2,137 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Pinos Altos is about 1¼ mile [or ~2¼ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Pinos Altos was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel west from Pinos Altos (for example, toward Duncan (AZ)), you will leave Mountain Time and cross into the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST). In addition, you will be moving from an area that observes daylight saving time to one that does not.

We originally found mention of Pinos Altos in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Pinos Altos was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Pinos Altos post office opened in 1867.

We also found Pinos Altos in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
