Welcome to Wells ...So far, we found very little information about Wells. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Wells to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. The location of Wells has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Wells, you might consider that their post office opened in 1885. While the community is gone, the present day location for Wells is 700 feet [213 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Wells was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time Note: If you travel west from Wells (for example, toward Mentone (AL)), you will leave Eastern Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT). If Wells still existed, it would have been in the (706) and (762)<5> area codes.
