Welcome to Buff ...

So far, we found very little information about Buff. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Buff would have been located within present day Gordon County<2>.


The location of Buff has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Buff, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1885.

From the  Census Estimates for 2019, Buff has a population of 15,522 people<4> (see below for details).

While the community is gone, the present day location for Buff is 710 feet [216 m] above sea level.<5>.

Time Zone: The area where Buff was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel west from Buff (for example, toward Mentone (AL)), you will leave Eastern Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Buff was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Buff post office opened in 1885.

We also found Buff in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
