At the time of the 2010 Census, Rock Springs had a population of 23,036 people (which is 52.59% of the total population of Sweetwater County). This makes Rock Springs the county's most populous community.

The population of Rock Springs represents 4.09% of the total population of Wyoming (which has 563,626 people), making it the state's 5th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 23,036 people, the population of Rock Springs increased 23.13% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 18,708 people).
