While we don't have a date for the founding of Lookout, you might consider that their post office opened in 1869.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Lookout is 7,120 feet [2,170 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Lookout is about 1¼ mile [or ~2¼ km] above sea level.

We originally found mention of Lookout in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lookout was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Lookout post office opened in 1869.

We also found Lookout in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
