Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Ripley had an population of 3,167 people. This is a decrease of 2.61% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 2.94% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Ripley had a population of 3,252 people (which is 11.13% of the total population of Jackson County). This makes Ripley the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Ripley represents 0.18% of the total population of West Virginia (which has 1,852,994 people), making it the state's 36th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 3,252 people, the population of Ripley has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (with a count of 3,263 people).

We originally found mention of Ripley in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Ripley was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Ripley post office opened in 1897.

We also found Ripley on a map titled Rand McNally Map of West Virginia (1911).
