While we don't have a date for the founding of Pettit, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1889.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Pettit is 1,870 feet [570 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Pettit was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Pettit still existed, it would have been in the (304) and (681)<5> area codes.

We originally found mention of Pettit in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Pettit was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Pettit post office opened in 1889.

We also found Pettit in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
