So far, we found very little information about Lumber. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Lumber would have been located within present day Randolph County<2>.


The location of Lumber has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Lumber, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1906.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Lumber is 2,120 feet [646 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of Lumber is about ½ mile above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Lumber was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Lumber still existed, it would have been in the (304) and (681)<5> area codes.

We originally found mention of Lumber in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Lumber was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Lumber post office opened in 1906.

We also found Lumber on a map titled Rand McNally Map of West Virginia (1911).
