While we don't have a date for the founding of Keystone, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1892.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Keystone had an population of 222 people. This is a decrease of 21.28% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 50.99% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Keystone had a population of 282 people. This makes Keystone the county's 8th most populous community.

The population of Keystone represents 0.02% of the total population of West Virginia (which has 1,852,994 people), making it the state's 199th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 282 people, the population of Keystone decreased 37.75% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 453 people).

We originally found mention of Keystone in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Keystone was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Keystone post office opened in 1892.

We also found Keystone on a map titled Rand McNally Map of West Virginia (1911).
