So far, we found very little information about Boyd. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Boyd would have been located within present day Upshur County<2>.


The location of Boyd has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Boyd, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1891.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Boyd is 1,600 feet [488 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Boyd was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

The location where Boyd once stood is in the (304) and (681)<5> area codes.

Adding Boyd to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Boyd in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Boyd was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Boyd post office opened in 1891.

We also found Boyd in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
