Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Merrimac had an population of 440 people. This is an increase of 4.76% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 5.77% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Merrimac had a population of 420 people. This makes Merrimac the county's 32nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 420 people, the population of Merrimac has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 416 people).

We originally found mention of Merrimac in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Merrimac was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Merrimac post office opened in 1950.

We also found Merrimac on a map titled Shell Oil Road Map for Wisconsin (1956).
