At the time of the 2010 Census, Marinette had a population of 10,968 people (which is 26.27% of the total population of Marinette County). This makes Marinette the county's most populous community.

The population of Marinette represents 0.19% of the total population of Wisconsin (which has 5,686,986 people), making it the state's 82nd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 10,968 people, the population of Marinette decreased 6.65% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 11,749 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Marinette was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Marinette post office opened in 1853.

We also found Marinette in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
