Skagit County was founded in 1883 and was created by taking area from Whatcom County. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Skagit had a population of 129,181 people. This is an increase of 10.5% since the last Census (which gave a population of 116,901 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Skagit represented 1.74% of the total population of Washington.
