The community of Seattle is the Seat for King County.

King County was founded in 1852 and was created by taking area from Thurston County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> King had a population of 2,252,782 people. This is an increase of 16.22% since the last Census (which gave a population of 1,938,351 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, King represented 28.83% of the total population of Washington.
