From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Fincastle was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Fincastle post office opened in 1792.

We also found Fincastle in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (1803).
